Anime is Japanese animation or Japanese "cartoons". Most of the storylines tend to be influenced by manga, or Japanese "graphic novels" and are generally fictional. There are many types of anime out there, involving different names for different audiences or genres. These names tend to also refer to manga types, as well. For example, Shōnen is anime targeted for boys, Mecha is anime that involves "giant robots" called mechs, Seinen is for men, and Kodomo is for little children.

Mazer was a proud Greek man studying computer science at the [[University of Windsor]]. He was one of the earliest remaining members of [[CompSci.ca]], though his existence is woven in fog. Being a ninja, Mazer tried to remain as stealthy as possible. He achieved this through numerous name changes and by his ordinary rank on [[CompSci.ca]], despite the fact that he was a moderator. Mazer was the original creator of the [[IRC channel]]. He was the author of [[Evasive Maneuvers]]. He was a leader in the monthly [[Avatar Themes]]. Mazer went out for milk one night, and has yet to return.

===The Name===
Mazer's [[CompSci.ca]] name began as "Mazer", then it was later changed to "Coutsos", which happens to be his last name. He goes by either "Coutsos" or more prevalently "niko" on the [[IRC channel]]. In early 2006, he changed his [[CompSci.ca]] name back to "Mazer", creating a vast deal of confusion.

Much of #compsci.ca's early history is shrouded in mystery. Nobody is quite sure the exact time when it was created, but rumour has it that [[Coutsos]] was its founder, although he did not begin to regularly attend it until quite some time later. Its first regular inhabitants were [[wtd]] and a mysterious lurker named [[Ultrahex]], who though a member of compsci does not seem to ever post on the forums. Things took off sometime in early 2005, when a wave of members, including [[Hikaru79]], [[Coutsos]], [[Cervantes]], and [[Gandalf]] started regularly attending the channel. At present, #compsci.ca has a regular population of about ten, give or take, although it is subject to occasional flurries of activity, often when the moon is full.

As of April 15th, 2006, #compsci.ca is for [[CompSci.ca]] and programming related discussion. Excessive off topic discussion is to be held elsewhere.

Literally translates to "wooden sword."

Used in many martial arts as a practice weapon. Some prefer it to the [[shinai]] because of the curved blade, and the fact that it offers a distinct edge to target with.
