Neon Genesis Evangelion(NGE) is a very popular anime created by the Gainax studio.
Many consider it one of the classics of anime, although some think its ending is rather confusing. Besides the series of 26 episodes it also contains 'Death and Rebirth' and 'End of Evangelion'. A more complete description can be found in this guide.
