The World Community Grid, hosted by IBM allows millions of computers to join their idle time for the benefit of humanity. Similar to the SETI@Home project and Folding@Home, WCG focuses on human proteome folding and fighting AIDS. All three project run on the same client (BOINC) which is available for both the Linux and Windows platform. The program can be run in the background or as a screensaver.
