The World Community Grid, hosted by IBM allows millions of computer to join their computer idle time for the benefit of humanity. Similar to the SETI project and Folding@Home, WCG focuses on human proteome folding and fighting AIDS. Clients for both Linux and Windows are available, and the program can be run in the background or as a screensaver.
