Java is a programming language designed for boring people who aren't smart enough to handle C.

Also very good for learning Object Oriented programming styles. Java has many good uses and is my favourite language by and far. There's also a lot of other languages that use the java libraries like Scala, Nice, Jaskell, and Groovy.
